Magnolia Pictures has announced that “Frank” will be released on August 22, 2014 in the US. The movie will be up against “Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”, “If I Stay”, “When the Game Stands Tall”, and “Love is Strange”. The movie will be released May 9, 2014 in the UK and Ireland. The official plot can be found below.
FRANK is an offbeat comedy about a wannabe musician who finds himself out of his depth when he joins a maverick rock band led by the enigmatic Frank – a musical genius who hides himself inside a large fake head.
FRANK stars Dohmnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scoot McNairy and Michael Fassbender and is directed by Lenny Abrahamson (Adam & Paul, Garage, What Richard Did). Written by Jon Ronson (The Men Who Stare At Goats) and Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Men Who Stare At Goats), FRANK is a fictional story based on the memoir by Jon Ronson and loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom (the persona of cult musician and comedy legend Chris Sievey), as well as outsider musicians like Daniel Johnston, Captain Beefheart and Harry Partch.

The threesome talk to Ryan Tubridy about their new film, Frank. Fassbender and Abrahamson also discuss their first project together, a TV advertisement they made 15 years ago.
“I remember people saying oh he’s good and you kinda know straight away, says Abrahamson as he recalls his first meeting with Fassbender.
“I didn’t see Michael for long time after that and I just remember seeing him in things and thinking I’d really like to work with him again.”
This year’s Oscars was particularly special for Fassbender. “It was great, the whole family were there, we are very close so to share something like that with them was very special,” he says.
IndieWire released the very first production still of “Ex-Machina” featuring Domhnall and his co-star Oscar Isaac. Alicia Vikander, who co-starred alongside Domhnall in “Anna Karenina“, also co-stars. The still has been added to our gallery. No release date has been set for the movie.
Empire Magazine released the first poster for “Frank” earlier this week. The movie premiered earlier this year during the Sundance Film Festival and is expected to be released May 9, 2014 in the UK and Ireland. No release date has been set for the US.
The story, from The Men Who Stare At Goats’ Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan, finds Domhnall Gleeson as Jon, who joins a band led by the eccentric Frank (Fassbender). Loosely based on comedian and musician Chris Sievey (with influences from Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart), Frank tells the story of a group who want to make some truly new music, and go about it in very strange ways.
Oh, and there’s the fact that Frank himself refuses to ever take his giant head off. When the group is offered a gig at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, a road trip begins that starts to show the cracks in the various friendships and, at one point, the head…
Frank comes from Lenny Abrahamson, and promises to deliver plenty of offbeat comedy. With Scoot McNairy, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Tess Harper, Travis Hammer, it will be out here on May 9.
The Wrap was first to report that Domhnall is one of the actors up for the part of Dr. Doom in the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot.
With Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell set to play the titular team in Josh Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, the production is now turning its attention towards the villainy side of things and have reportedly narrowed down the list of potential Dr. Doom actors to just four actors. According to The Wrap, Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Toby Kebbell and Domhnall Gleeson are currently the names that are being bounced around the production offices of The Fantastic Four.
