Fox Searchlight released the first official stills of the Untitled A.A. Milne Project earlier this week via USA Today. We have added the stills in our gallery. The movie is expected to be released in 2017.
Domhnall Gleeson is trading the evil of General Hux for the kid-friendly charm of Winnie-the-Pooh.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Gleeson plays British children’s author A.A. Milne in an upcoming biopic based on the life of the beloved teddy bear’s creator. USA TODAY has the first look at stills from the as yet untitled Fox Searchlight movie — which started filming in England two weeks ago — featuring Gleeson, Margot Robbie (who veers far from Harley Quinn as wife Daphne Milne) and newcomer Will Tilston (as little Christopher Robin).
With the working title of The Untitled A.A. Milne Project — though, honestly, we dug the original Goodbye Christopher Robin handle — the movie centers on the father/son relationship between Milne and Christopher Robin, whose stuffed toys inspired Milne to create the magical world of Pooh Bear, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger and the rest of the gang that inhabited the books Winnie-the-Pooh in 1926 and The House at Pooh Corner two years later. The tomes took England by storm following World War I, but also overshadowed all of Milne’s previous works and put an international spotlight on the family and their nanny Olive (Kelly Macdonald).
